Some of Us (another poem by me)
10.10.03 (8:41 am)   [edit]
A man stands on the street
His dreams forever shattered
His wife is dead, he feels so weak
Left with four kids, his heart badly tattered

She struggles each and everyday
With a pain she's had all her life
People stop and stare, the horrible things they say
Just because she is handicapped, the pain they cause twists like a knife

Some of us don't even wonder
Some of us don't even care
Why can't we accept each other
Or do we not know how?

Amazing how people still think color grants supremacy
Or that a disability means your weak
Why can't this world unite and find harmony
Love and peace is all that I seek

A old man forgotten by those he loves
In the nursing home he awaits his last days
Wishes he would die and be taken by the Lord to up above
My heart hangs heavy in so many ways

Some of us don't even wonder
Some of us don't even care
Why can't we accept each other
Or do we not know how?

I wish for this Earth a connection of the heart
Where people can just be without living with fears
We are all God's children, each came from the same start
Maybe one day the pain will stop, and so will all the tears.

Marching of Time (poem written by me)
10.09.03 (4:44 pm)   [edit]
Life goes by so fast, time just marches on
Long before we realise what we might lose, and that they are no longer playing our song
We take things for granted, the people we see everyday
Before we know it they are taken, and we are just blown away

I try hard to live each day for the true gift it was meant to be
Instead though I'm just as guilty as the rest, and it leaves me hurting
Life goes as quickly as the passing of a season
Time rearranges our lives, and we are left seeking the reason

We wish we could rewind, but all of us know that is only a dream
When we realise life has been robbed from us, we're left with an anger that screams
What if there was a time machine, and one could go back in time, and do it all differently
Would we then be happier, and would our hearts be more complete?

These and more thoughts run randomly through my head
Sometimes when I'm trying to sleep at night, and only end up tossing in my bed
I know only one thing that I've learned in this life to be true
We need to treasure each day, or else tomorrow we'll be left feeling blue

With the ticking of the clock, day turns into night, and then night back into day
The days pass into one another, and it's always going to be this way
If we stop for a moment though, and hold on for a second longer to the love that we share
We'll realise it doesn't matter the time we have with them, but more the people who it is that so willingly care

Your typical poetry girl
10.09.03 (3:17 pm)   [edit]
hi there. my name is Amy. I'm 26 years old. I'm not married nor do I have any children at this point in my life. I live in North Carolina. I have my Bachelors in Social Work, and am hoping to continue my education and get my Masters in either Social Work or Psychology.

I am not the most interesting person in the world...but if someone out there would like to respond, that would be nice. I like to write poetry. I have written quite a few poems and post online with a lot of friends. I also am being published in a book this upcoming Spring. I also enjoy reading. My favorite author is Nicholaus Sparks. To any avid readers out there, you should read Suzannes Diary for Nicholaus written by James Patterson. The Notebook is also an excellent book! :)

I am currently reading A Bend In The Road by Nicholaus Sparks. I also like bowling, swimming, playing tennis, and spending time with my friends & family. I sometimes like to chat online, okay I like to chat online A LOT LOL, and have met some wonderful people. If anyone is interested, respond. Take care. Amy :D Hiiii Selina!! Thanks for asking me to join. Peace ya'll! :D
